Lib Dems Are ‘All Talk and No Action’
The SNP has challenged the Liberal Democrats to offer the people of Scotland a clear route back into the European Union – after their leader, Sir Ed Davey, described Brexit as “the elephant in the room of British politics”.
To date, the SNP are the only party in the UK to offer the people of Scotland a route back into the European Union after being removed in 2016 against its will.
Alyn Smith MP, the SNP’s Europe and EU Accession spokesperson has described the Liberal Democrats as being “all talk and no action” on a return to the European Union – adding that “only independence for Scotland can guarantee our return to the world’s largest Single Market”.
Commenting, Alyn Smith MP said:
“It’s nice to see the Liberal Democrats finally realise how destructive Brexit has been to the UK’s economy.
“However, they seem to be all talk and no action on how people in Scotland – who were removed from the European Union against their will – can return.
“Instead of pandering to voters in England, the Liberal Democrats would be well advised to offer people in Scotland a clear and viable route back into the European Union – something the SNP has done from the outset.
“However, the reason they don’t is because they know that would mean accepting the fact that only independence for Scotland can guarantee our return to the world’s largest Single Market and, thus, the European Union.
“For as long as they deny that reality, they will continue to be nothing more than a puppet to the Tories and pro-Brexit Labour.”
